FAQ

Here are some answers to our most frequently asked questions:

What exactly do you do?

Noah's Ark Pet Care will look after your pets and home while you're away. We can check on them while you're at work, take them for a walk, enjoy playtime, administer medications, and take them to the vet or groomer as needed. We can stop by one or more times per day to check on things or spend all night watching over your pets and home. We also have limited cage-free boarding spaces available if you prefer to leave your pets with us. If you need any errands taken care of or light housework done, we can deal with those tasks as well.

What WON'T you do?

We are not groomers, trainers, or veteranarians. Giving your pet a bath or daily medications is well within our scope, but these other needs are best left to the specialists! We will not take on any animals with active contagious diseases or dangerous behavioral problems. Again, these things are best left to the experts.

What types of animals do you care for?

Our staff has experience caring for cats, dogs, fish, birds, rodents, reptiles, and even some exotics. We can also care for horses, cattle, chickens, goats, pigs, sheep, and most other livestock.

How do I get started receiving services?

Just give us a call and we can arrange a meet-and-greet appointment so we can get to know you and your pets, and you can get to know us! You will be given copies of the service agreement and other informational forms to review and/or sign. We will discuss our key policy and emergency plan, as well as your "house rules" and specific care instructions. You will receive a written quote for any services you would like us to perform. If you are satisfied with the terms and would like to begin services, we will then receive your keys and full payment in the form of cash or money order. You will receive a reminder phone call and e-mail within 48 hours of the start of service and will inform us when you will be leaving home.

What happens when we're away?

A Noah's Ark sitter will come to your home and care for your pets and/or house according to your instructions. They will bring in your mail and newspaper, turn on lights, and generally make your home appear to be occupied while performing their duties. For added security, we don't display any signage or markings on our vehicles when visiting your home. You will be notified of the condition of your pets and home daily, or if you prefer, a log will be maintained. Our sitter will spend quality time with your animals and make sure they are content and in good health. You will be notified immediately if any problems arise. We ask that you contact us upon your return so that we may stop service and return your keys if needed.

What do you do with my keys?

While under contract and not visiting your home, we keep your keys stored in a locked and secured key box. Each set of keys in our possession is numerically coded with your client number so there is no identifying piece of information on the key itself. Your keys will be returned to you upon completion of our services, or if you prefer, you can leave your keys with us if you require repeated services or have a long-term contract.

What happens if there's bad weather?

We have an emergency plan in place in case of inclement weather. Your pet care schedule will be adhered to as closely as possible. Every effort will be made to secure your pets and property, however - we can not control acts of God.
